EXCLUSIVE: Sean Pierson Says Michael Bisping “Calls No Shots”
Sean Pierson says Michael Bisping does not really get a choice in his next opponent.
On Wednesday, Michael Bisping made a statement regarding his fight with Georges St-Pierre. He said the bout needs to take place by July or he would be fighting Yoel Romero instead. Romero has been the number one contender but was passed over for the returning former UFC Welterweight Champion St-Pierre. On Fightful MMA's podcast, Sean Pierson talked about Bisping's ultimatum.
"Michael Bisping doesn't run the show here, who's kidding who? GSP will do whatever he wants, (UFC) will make Michael Bisping do what ever GSP wants or he's going to fight Romero. Michael Bisping doesn't want that fight, he's not going to get paid as much and he might end up with a concussion. So who cares what Bisping says? No one gives a fuck," said Pierson.
He also said being the champion is not helping Bisping's clout in the UFC Middleweight division.
"He's the champ, he calls no shots," said Pierson. "He can build a fight, he just goes and talks shit, but he's not calling the shots, Georges is calling the shots in this fight, he's already the favorite," he added.
Pierson also said he thinks Bisping probably loses to St-Pierre, Romero, or UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. He also says St-Pierre would be better serviced by fighting UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. In the rest of the podcast, Pierson and host "Showdown Joe" Ferraro talk about Bellator's upcoming pay-per-view and B.J. Penn not being a main event star any more.
Pierson appears on Wednesdays on Fightful MMA's podcast. He and Ferraro discuss the prevailing topics within mixed-martial-arts.
