Jack Swagger is going by Jake Hager professionally now as he gears up for his Bellator MMA debut Saturday night, but Jake Strong is at the top of his game on Lucha Underground.
As is tradition after any season of the series, there’s a major sense of uncertainty about the next season. When we asked Hager/Strong/Swagger about the possibility of season number 5, he said he hasn’t heard anything from the company or production.
“Jake Strong is the current Lucha Underground Champion. I have no idea actually. They were were excited after the last season ended, which was April, and they wanted to go into season 5 right then. It’s been crickets. Maybe we can egg them to come out of their cave and make an announcement,” Hager said to Fightful.com at the site of Bellator 214’s media day.
Other options for Hager in the pro wrestling world include the newly announced All Elite Wrestling, which will launch this year. He wasn’t coy about embracing a new major wrestling promotion with open arms, and says that it will benefit the business of wrestling as a whole.
“The landscape of professional wrestling is changing, and it’s awesome. It’s great for professional wrestlers and even better for fans. The product that is being put out right now is top notch and it’s only going to get better and be more of a household name. I’m super excited about it. It’s something wrestlers have talked about for years. We want competition, not just with WWE, but competition makes everyone better. It’s going to raise the bar and I look forward to seeing what they can do,” said Hager to James Lynch
