EXCLUSIVE: HW Prospect Steve Mowry Talks Bellator 215 Fight Feb. 15 & Pro-Wreslting

Steve Mowry is back in the cage at Bellator 215, facing Ahmed Samir Hefny in a heavyweight division attraction.

The heavyweight prospect made his Bellator debut at Bellator 205 with a first round submission win over Ben Moa, but Mowry didn’t feel any jitters making the big show debut.

“Yeah (I’m happy with the performance), that’s all I really got to say about it. I was really happy with it, It just felt good to get in there and get out. They tell you all the time about big show jitters and I didn’t really feel like I got hit by that so much, maybe not the pressure…but the…I guess pressure may be the best word for it. The pressure to go in there and perform and do something big on my first fight,” says Mowry in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Mowry had previously competed in the Titan Fighting Championships, including some cards that were streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

While Mowry would like to stay busier in 2019, one thing the fighter also recognizes is the body must be treated right to continue competing at higher levels.

“Yeah, for sure. No matter what happens in this fight, I’d like to stay busy. When I was an amateur…not just with amateur MMA, I tried to stay busy with everything. I did some amateur boxing, I probably did a grappling tournament at least once a month. That’s maybe the one thing I miss the most about my amateur career was that I was able to stay busy, so I know that I’m young and in the pro ranks…there’s a lot more going on. I’m not 20 years old anymore, I’m a grown man now. So I have to treat my body like that to, so when you perform and compete at a higher level…you need to be more serious about how you act with your life. I mean a turnaround with a fight every month doesn’t make sense, with that said…I’d like to be a little bit more busy. Five months (in between fights) is a little bit long for me personally, but I’ll see where it goes. Taking care of business on the fifteenth, then hopefully…Lord willing, get the win and go from there,” says Mowry.

Bellator 215 takes place on Friday, February 15 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
