EXCLUSIVE: Bellator Champ Patricio “Pitbull” Freire talks title defense against Daniel Weichel at Bellator 188
Patricio Pitbull Freire has ran the gauntlet in Bellator MMA, to the point to where after next week, five of his last eight fights will have been rematches.
Overall of his last 13 fights, by Bellator 188, eight of them will come from three opponents, one being Bellator Featherweight title challenger Daniel Weichel. After knocking Weichel out just over two years ago, Freire doesn't see his Featherweight Championship in jeopardy during their upcoming bout in Isreal.
"Everybody when they lose say that they're going to come back different, but they go home and start doing the same things they used to do over and over. So it's tough to say about his improvement. He's more consistent with his approach," Friere said.
According to the champion, he didn't want to take over six months off from fighting, but did it for the benefit of Bellator.
"I wanted to fight sooner, but Bellator was in need of a big fight for the Isreal card," Pitbull said to Fightful.com's James Lynch in an exclusive interview. "I know they have good things in mind, and I'm going with it. I want to fight by March at the latest. I'm going to take a month off after this fight."
