Exclusive: Elias Theodorou Committed To Invicta As Ring Card Boy, Talks Backlash Of Role
Fightful alumni Elias Theodorou was never one to have an uneventful week, and once again his schedule is slammed.
Even though he has a fight planned against Trevor Smith on May 27 from Liverpool at UFC Fight Night 130, Elias is serving as Invicta FC ring boy yet again. This will be Theodorou's second go-around in the role, and he spoke about the gig with Fightful.com's James Lynch.
"I'm excited to be back. Joining the Invicta team is great. I'm excited to show people this wasn't a one off, and I'm in it for the long haul. There's still a couple more before I can call myself a veteran. I have three or four events queued off. Invicta's schedule hasn't been announced and finalized, but there are three or four dates I can confirm I'll be doing," said Theodorou.
Being one of the first high-profile men in this kind of role, Theodorou admits that he experienced a bit of backlash. However, he's more than open about his desire to remain on Invicta shows, and to help shine a light on their roster.
"There was. Anything worth fighting for will cause some positives and negatives in response. Overwhelmingly it was positive. So much so that I'm coming for another go around. The way I would describe it is an accumulation of who I am. The fact that I'm doing this on good faith that I'm going to do it for the long haul. At the end of the day it's about the women that are competing on this card. It's going to be a great night of fights from top to bottom. It's not about me, it's about the overall atmosphere that Invicta 29 will be," said Elias.
