Edson Barboza, Charles Oliveira Score UFC Milwaukee Finishes, Rob Font Beats Sergio Pettis

Charles Oliveira isn’t a top 15 fighter, but looked to accomplish several things on UFC Milwaukee’s opening main card fight. The most of which was to avenge a 2010 loss to Jim Miller, which took just under two minutes. Oliveira was immediately able to secure Miller’s back on his way to a rear naked choke win in only 75 seconds and extended his UFC record for most submission wins at 12.

Rob Font sits at #10 in the Bantamweight division, but welcomed Sergio Pettis, the #2 Flyweight making his 135 pound return. The size difference that Font predicted would be tough for Pettis to overcome indeed was. Font jabbed his way to an advantage before taking Pettis down in the third round and controlling him on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Pettis did have one moment of glory in the form of a spinning wheel kick.

#14 Dan Hooker got a major increase in competition, taking on #5 Edson Barboza. The elder Barboza handled Hooker in the first round, throwing leg kicks and abusing the youngster. The second round saw Barboza slow down a bit and headhunt, but still easily take the round. Suprisingly, Hooker came out for the third round to experience Barboza spamming body kicks.

With broadcasters calling for the fight to be stopped, a series of nasty strikes — kicks, knees, punches to the body finally collapsed Hooker.
