Eddie Bravo Details Altercation With Michael Bisping
Jiu-jitsu ace Eddie Bravo and current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping recently got into an altercation backstage at the World MMA Awards. The event took place at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month.
Bravo states that he believes the altercation began because Bisping was offended by one of his comments.
“I said ‘he visually improves from fight to fight, and you can see it’, I’m sure he’s sick of hearing that. I was complimenting him, and I can see how he thought that implied he was subpar at one point,” he said on The Joe Rogan Experience. “He was like ‘I take offense to that man! I was always a bad ass since the Ultimate Fighter show.’ I understand where he’s coming from. We were trying to talk about fighting GSP. We were arguing, and he was getting kinda insulted. ‘I’m insulted when people say that!’ I’m sorry! I get it. I was trying to compliment you, but I see how you — I should’ve kept my mouth shut.”
Oddly enough, after the confrontation ended after cooler heads prevailed and the middleweight kingpin wanted Bravo to train him.
“He didn’t even remember, and he blacked out. He didn’t even remember,” Bravo laughed. “But we’re cool, he DM’d me on twitter and said ‘dude, sorry about last night.’”
Bisping actually walked away with an award that night as well for Upset Of The Year, which he earned by upsetting Luke Rockhold to win the UFC Middleweight Title at UFC 199. Bravo did not win an award himself, but the jiu-jitsu legend also runs the Eddie Bravo Invitational and that airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
Bisping is preparing to defend his title against Georges St. Pierre later this year.
