Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus Booked For December
A showdown between heavyweight sluggers Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus has been booked.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report the news of the matchup, confirming it with UFC President Dana White who said the promotion is close to finalizing the bout to headline a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event on December 18, likely taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lewis is 4-1 in his last five Octagon appearances and the two-time UFC title challenger will try to rebound from a third-round TKO loss to new interim UFC heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane, back at UFC 265 in his latest outing. Daukaus meanwhile is on a five-fight winning streak currently, is undefeated in the UFC at 4-0, and will get the quick turnaround against Lewis after defeating Shamil Adburakhimov via a second-round TKO at this past weekend’s UFC 266 event.
