Derrick Lewis Claims American Top Team Put A Hit Out On Him

Derrick Lewis back in action next month at UFC 247, facing Ilir Latifi in a heavyweight division attraction.

Latifi trains out of American Top Team (ATT) and Lewis believes those at ATT have put a hit out on him.

“I’m guessing (Latifi called for a fight with me) because I heard he’s training at American Top Team,” Lewis said on UFC Unfiltered (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “All of those guys have been calling me out left and right. Just about everybody over there – Greg Hardy, him, Junior Dos Santos. What’s the other guy’s name – the crazy one that just fought? Colby … They got a hit out on me. Even Shawn Jordan (was) over there, too. They’ve been training for me for years – all their guys. Just about every guy over there I’ve fought already. They feel like they’ve got the recipe out on me.”

There could be other gyms that have put a hit out on Lewis, but he has yet to name any other ones besides ATT.

Lewis also believes that the reason ATT keeps calling him out is because they view the “Black Beast” as the weakest fighter ranked in the top five.

“They look at me like the weakest in the top-five – a more easy fight for them,” Lewis said. “That’s how I look at it.”

UFC 247 takes place on Saturday, February 8 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas with Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
