Deiveson Figueiredo Interested in Kai Kara-France Matchup Following Victory At UFC 270: “I Want To Knock Him Out”
Newly crowned UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is interested in a potential bout with top contender Kai Kara-France.
Figueiredo spoke with the media following his unanimous decision victory over the former champ, Brandon Moreno, in their trilogy bout at UFC 270 this past Saturday night, and brought up Kara-France’s name as a potential possibility for his next fight. The 28-year old Auckland, New Zealand native is 3-1 in his last four Octagon outings and is coming off of a first-round TKO victory over former UFC bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, back at UFC 269. He is expected to face undefeated contender Askar Askarov at a UFC Fight Night event on March 26 in Columbus, Ohio.
“Kai Kara-France, obviously,” Figueiredo said (h/t MMA Fighting). “I want to knock him out, and he knocked out Cody Garbrandt, so that’s the guy I wanted to knock out. It’s not in my interest to fight Cody anymore, so it’s Kai Kara-France. If it’s a good fight if he behaves well, and if we can do it as a kickass pay-per-view in the United States, this is where I fight, this is where I want to make my money,” Figueiredo added later. “Brandon was talking about the fact that I was his biggest sponsorship. I told him I was going to take that away from him. So fighting Brandon is going to be the thing that gives me more money.”
