Daniel Cormier Sad That Cain Velasquez Has Retired From MMA

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez recently announced his retirement from professional MMA competition after signed a multi-year deal with the WWE.

Daniel Cormier is a longtime friend and teammate of Velasquez and the former two division UFC champion is sad that Velasquez has called it a career.

“It’s a sad day when Cain Velasquez retires. But I know that he is doing something that he loves,” Cormier said to MMA Fighting. “I remember watching him at [WWE] Elimination Chamber and you can see that this was something that he could love, I am not sure he ever fell for something faster, well except for when he met [his wife] Michelle. I’m very happy for Cain and Michelle and the kids. But the biggest winner in this whole deal is the WWE Universe, they are in for a treat watching Cain perform. I’m excited to see the program between him and Brock. Congratulations to my brother. Exciting times.”

Velasquez is expected to make his WWE in ring debut this Halloween at WWE Crown Jewel 2019, when the retired UFC star faces WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Velasquez doesn’t have much professional wrestling experience at this time, having just competed in two matches before signing with the WWE.
