Exclusive: David Teymur Wants A Top Ten Opponent In His Next Fight

UFC Lightweight David Teymur dominated each round on his way to victory at UFC 218.

David Teymur won his fourth UFC bout in a fight which featured an exhibition of his kickboxing experience. Teymur extended his winning streak to seven by defeating Drakkar Klose via unanimous decision. Klose, the collegiate wrestler, showed off some dynamic kicks as well but Teymur won each round on every judge’s scorecard.

Round Three: The round begins with Klose coming forward and swinging away at Teymur, Teymur then cracks Klose with a head kick. Teymur goes back to attacking Klose with some leg kicks, Klose chases Teymur around the cage while swinging wildly at him. Teymur catches a swinging Klose with a knee strike to the midsection, Teymur accidentally pokes Klose in the eye and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with Klose attempting a flying knee strike and missing Teymur, Klose eats a kick to the midsection before attacking Teymur with a high kick. Klose then catches Teymur with a spinning heel kick to the midsection, Teymur responds by catching Klose with a kick to the midsection as well. Teymur continues attacking Klose with a variety of kicks, Klose scores a takedown on Teymur and he gets side control. Teymur quickly scrambles back to his feet to get the fight standing again, Teymur kicks away at Klose as the round ends.

Official Result: David Teymur def. Drakkar Klose by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The Swedish lightweight handed Klose his first mixed-martial-arts loss. After the fight, Teymur told Fightful’s James Lynch his opinion of his opponent and what he wants in his next fight. 

“It was his first loss today. He is still young and he will come back But you know David Teymur in the house,” said Teymur. “My goal is the belt. I want to go to the top ten, a top ten fighter,” he later added. 

Teymur also told media he is heading to Miami Beach to celebrate his victory but he intends to get “back on track.”
