Daniel Gallemore Says Win At Victory FC 57 Will Get Him In the UFC
Victory Fighting Championships Heavyweight Champion Daniel Gallemore is defending the gold against Daniel James this Friday Night at Victory FC 57.
The champion feels that is he could get past James, then an opportunity will arise for him to compete in the UFC.
“Victory’s got a pretty good reputation of kind of being the gateway,” Gallemore told MMA Junkie Radio. “The Victory titleholder usually gets signed (by the UFC). With a win or two – this will be my second title defense – I would halfway expect the call as long as I perform well. If I go out there with a snoozer, nobody’s going to want to sign anybody for that. But as long as I perform well, put on a good show and am entertaining, I think I’ll get the call.”
Gallemore has yet to face any past or present UFC fights in his nine fight professional MMA career, but he has competed against Bellator MMA veteran Augusto Sakai.
One thing that Gallemore believes will help him get a shot in the UFC is a finish over his opponent on Friday Night.
“As a heavyweight, I always try to go for the finish,” he said. “I only went to a decision once, and it didn’t go my way. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t want to leave it to the judges. I’m not saying the decision I had was a bad one by any means at all – I definitely lost that fight. I just don’t want to go that long.”
Victory Fighting Championships 57 takes place on Friday, May 5 from the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas with Daniel Gallemore and Daniel James headlining. Fightful will provide quick results for the event once it is over, which airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
