Daniel Cormier Demands Jon Jones Fight Him At UFC 214
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones have been feuding for a few years, with only one fight between them.
The current champion has made a demand of the former champion and that is to fight him at UFC 214, or somebody else gets the title shot.
“Take the fight with me, Jon Jones,” Cormier said on UFC Tonight. “There are no tune-up fights in the UFC. Try to get your title back. Come meet your boy ‘DC,’ come get this money. Let’s get money together and give the people in Anaheim a show. No tune-up for Jon Jones, he gets to come and get beat by me this time. We’re fighting right now or he doesn’t get to fight me. It’s my rules, I’m the champ now.”
Jones won their only previous meeting at UFC 182, while their second fight at UFC 200 was canceled after Jones failed a drug test.
Cormier also believes that the Jones we saw against Ovince St. Preux at UFC 197 is the new USADA version of the former champion.
“The person that we saw against Ovince Saint Preux is the new, USADA-regulated Jon Jones,” Cormier said. “He’s always going to look like that. So, yes, I will beat him up on July 29th.”
Dana White has previously stated as well that if Jones doesn’t fight Cormier at UFC 214, then the title shot goes to Jimi Manuwa.
