Daniel Cormier Believes Brock Lesnar Will Return To The UFC

UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier was expecting to fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lensar sometime in the near future, but Lesnar retired and the bout never came to fruition.

Despite the super fight not coming together, one thing DC believes is that Lesnar will return to the UFC one day.

“I think that Brock is a competitor and I do believe that if the right opportunity presents itself for him he would do it,” Cormier said to Bloody Elbow. “The guy is a fighter. Everybody kind of shits on Brock Lesnar and talk like this guy can’t fight, but he is a fighter and he is a competitor and he likes money. So for the right amount of money and the right opportunity, I am sure Brock Lesnar could be convinced to come back.”

Lesnar last competed at UFC 200, fighting Mark Hunt to a no contest due to a pair of failed drug tests.

DC does expect Lesnar to return one day, but he still doesn’t understand why Lesnar and the UFC couldn’t come to terms.

“I don’t know. When we get these fights there are a lot of negotiations, a lot of things that need to be discussed and hammered out,” Cormier said. “I don’t know if Brock was able to come to terms with UFC, I just don’t know. I’m sure he will bounce back, he always seems to land on his feet. I just got the call that Brock was done fighting and what do I want to do next.”

UFC 241 takes place on Saturday, August 17 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
