Dana White Would Like To See Luke Rockhold & Holly Holm Retire

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold made his UFC Light Heavyweight Division debut at UFC 239, suffering a second round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz.

UFC President Dana White believes that it may be time for the former middleweight champion to hang up the gloves for good.

“I think Luke Rockhold should talk about hanging it up,” White said at the UFC 239 post-fight news conference (via Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie). “He broke his jaw tonight. That’s his second broken jaw, he’s been knocked out viciously a few times here, his shin is all banged up, he had to have skin graphs and all kinds of stuff. He’s had a good career. He’s been a great fighter. I’d like to see him hang it up.”

Holly Holm is a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and she suffered a first round knockout loss to current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 239.

White would also like to see Holm, who he describes as an incredible athlete, retire as well.

“The things that this woman can do physically with like the rings – gymnastics and all that stuff is phenomenal. She’s an incredible athlete, she’s an incredible human being, um, I don’t know. I think that she needs to take a look at, you know, what’s next for her and what she thinks – and I’m just saying that because I care about her. I care about her as a person. She’s amazing, so, I don’t know. Something we should probably talk about,” says White (via Alex McCarthy of Talk Sport).

There has been no comment from either Rockhold or Holm as to what the future of their professional MMA careers are.
