Dana White Tasked To Break Up McGregor/Mayweather Altercations

UFC President Dana White has joined UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather on each of the four legs of the super fight presser tour.

Fans checking out the press conferences may have noticed that the UFC President has been getting in between the fighters every time they come face to face, which was a task given to him by Mayweather adviser Al Haymon.

“Al Haymon gave me specific directions,” White said at a media scrum. “To make sure that Conor McGregor does not touch Floyd Mayweather. I’ll be in the middle.”

The UFC President was successful in keeping the rivals apart, although things got a little testy during the New York City leg of the tour.

White admits the UFC is making money off the super fight, but he’s also doing it for the UFC Lightweight Champion.

“This is for Conor,” White said. “Listen, are we gonna make money? We’re absolutely gonna make money. We’re gonna make money, those guys are gonna make money. But at the end of the day, the only reason why I even considered doing this is for Conor. I don’t want to say I’d never do it again, because I said I’d never do it. So, I don’t know. Obviously we’ll see how this whole thing plays out in the end and where we end up when it’s over.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
