Dana White Says The UFC Rebooking Brian Ortega vs. Chan Sung Jung
Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung were supposed to meet late last year in the main event of UFC Fight Night Busan, but Ortega would get injured and replaced by former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar.
UFC President Dana White says the duo will fight in the future and the winner will get the next featherweight title shot after Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway II.
“Ortega and The Korean Zombie are gonna fight,” White said during an appearance on ESPN (via Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting). “You know how I just went out and said (about the Tony) Ferguson fight against (Justin) Gaethje, I said ‘I absolutely, positively guarantee you that this fight will be great.’ That’s the same thing with Brian Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie, there’s no way this fight is boring. And the guy that comes out of that fight would be next in line for a title shot.”
Things got personal between Ortega and Jung after UFC Fight Night Busan, as Ortega attacked Jung’s translator in Jay Park at UFC 248 for alleged trash talking done by Jung. Ortega would later apologize for his actions and Jung would do so as well, while also challenging Ortega to a bout that may now be coming to fruition.
