Dana White Says Second Fight Island Trip Could Be Longer Than The First One
UFC may return to Fight Island for an extended visit following a successful first outing.
The UFC debuted Fight Island last month with a four-pack of events in a two-week span. It began with UFC 251 and ending with UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till.
When the promotion returns to Fight Island, it could last a lot longer than the initial trip.
“I told you guys we were going back to Abu Dhabi,” UFC President Dana White told MMA Junkie. “I think this next run in Abu Dhabi will be five or six weeks.”
Although no official return date has been set yet for the return of Fight Island, reports have suggested the next run could begin next month with UFC 253. White does have a timeline from the promotion’s return to Fight Island, but he isn’t ready to reveal that information.
“I do (know the timeline for the UFC’s return), but when the time comes, I’ll announce it,” White said.
Other UFC events during the coronavirus pandemic have been held in Brazil, the state of Florida, and at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
