Dana White Says Rousey vs. Holm Was His Best Promoted Fight

UFC 193 saw a changing in the guard as far as the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Division goes, as Holly Holm unseated Ronda Rousey to win the gold on that night.

That night was a memorable one as well for UFC President Dana White, who says the main event between Rousey and Holm was his best promoted fight.

“I would say my best one is Holly Holm versus Ronda Rousey,” White said in an interview with Tony Robbins. “I did a really good job with that one. When that fight came out the odds were incredibly huge that Ronda was going to win that fight. Nobody gave Holly a chance. I said, ‘Ronda’s never fought anybody like this. Holly striking, her head kicks, her this, her that.’ Even Joe Rogan said, ‘There’s no way Holly Holm wins this fight.’ Not only did we sell the fight, but Holly Holm won the fight.”

Holm would go onto lose the title in her first defense against Miesha Tate at UFC 196, while Rousey would return and lose to current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

White says that his job is to make all the fans out there wonder who’s going to walk away victorious in order to sell the fight.

“When we put together fights, my job, because everyone is going to have an opinion right away saying, ‘This guy is going to win!’ My job is to get you to question who you think is going to win this fight,” White said. “So I need to gather all the information I can get on both guys and then I need to sell you on why this fight isn’t going to go the way you think it’s going to go.”

Rousey has now moved onto becoming the Raw Women’s Champion in the WWE, while Holm is awaiting to see what her next fight in the Octagon is going to be.
