Dana White Says NYSAC Making It Seem Like 2001 Again
UFC President Dana White sat in the front row watching his UFC 210 card crumble from all sorts of controversies, which were caused by the New York State Athletic Commission.
The two most notable controversies surrounded Pearl Gonzalez’s breast implants and the ending to the co-main event fight between former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi.
The UFC President says it feels like it’s 2001 with the NYSAC.
"They didn't explain anything to me," White said after the event. "Weidman was in a very unfortunate position where he was told he had five minutes and he was laying on the ground, and then the doctor said `I can't let this guy continue.' With the new athletic commission, it's like we're in 2001 again."
Weidman has filed an appeal to the NYSAC after his loss to Mousasi, a ruling will be expected in a few weeks.
One thing that the UFC President would like to see is the various members of the NYSAC to get more experience with MMA.
"These guys have to get some experience," White said. "As a fighter, you have to be on your toes and ready to go. Many times even in great states like Nevada, you're battling the referee and the judges. You have to fight to win, fight to finish."
At least the UFC has a few months before they return to the state of New York, as UFC On Fox 25 will be taking place in Uniondale this coming July.
