Dana White Says Mighty Mouse Is Insane For Not Fighting TJ Dillashaw
UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson has a chance to break the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses in his next fight.
Dana White wants that next fight to come against former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw and “Mighty Mouse” has turned the fight down, which makes White think that the flyweight kingpin is a little insane.
“I have a fight with Demetrious Johnson where he’s on his way to break the record – Anderson Silva’s record for most title defenses,” White said on UFC Unfiltered. “And T.J. Dillashaw can’t fight Cody ‘No Love’ because Cody screwed up his back, and Cody won’t be back for a while. He’s like, ‘I can make this weight, and I’m going to stop him from breaking that record.’ T.J. is going to go down to 125 to fight D.J. to stop him from breaking the record, but D.J. doesn’t want to fight him. Tell me – you tell me. It’s insanity.”
Dillashaw was set to fight UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 213, but the champion pulled out of the fight due to a back injury.
White also wants Johnson to accept the fight because, in White’s opinion, it would be the first pay-per-view that Johnson competed on that fans cared about.
“This is the first fight ever in D.J.’s history that he actually gets pay-per-view,” White said. “He gets pay-per-view on this one, and this is the first real fight that people will care about and want to see on pay-per-view, and he is refusing to fight T.J. Dillashaw.”
Mighty Mouse has also stated that he would like to defend the gold against Ray Borg, but nothing is set in stone as of yet.
