UFC President Dana White has spoken out about a potential boxing match between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. before.
Now the UFC President says that the potential super fight is still a pipe dream
"(The fight is) nowhere near being done,” White recently said to TMZ Sports.
Mayweather Jr. recently announced that he was coming out of retirement so that fight with McGregor could be one step closer to happening.
The UFC President went as far as to talk about the lack of a date for the fight yet.
"There is no target date whatsoever,” White said.
McGregor hasn’t competed in any way since he won the UFC Lightweight Title from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. In that fight, McGregor would finish Alvarez with strikes in the second round to capture the gold.
The boxing legend hasn’t competed himself since defeating Andre Berto by decision in 2015. Mayweather Jr. would announce his retirement after the fight.
In past interviews, McGregor has stated that he wouldn’t compete in any way until the birth of his first child, which is supposed to happen this May.
