The only glimpses that fans got to see between the infamous sparring sessions between Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi came in the form of a single photo followed by a pair of short video clips.
According to UFC President Dana White, the retired Malignaggi got beat by McGregor in every round of their sparring session.
“What am I, Steven Spielberg? Come on,” White said to Sky Sports. “It’s footage of the actual sparring. Let me tell you what: I was there for all 12 rounds, and Paulie has said some crazy things and bad things about me. I felt sorry for the guy. It was a one-way beating. A lot of people said Conor couldn’t box. Paulie was obviously lying about everything he said about the sparring match, so I released it.”
Malignaggi has spoken out against McGregor and his team since the photo was released, saying he was pushed and never dropped during their sparring session.
Fans may get a chance to see the whole sparring session soon because White is willing to release the whole thing.
“I got no problem releasing the full tape,” White said. “The problem is Conor doesn’t want Mayweather to see everything that he’s doing and everything he’s been working on. Those were just some small clips.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
