UFC President Dana White sat ringside when Floyd Mayweather earned a tenth round TKO win over UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor this past August. The bout served as the professional boxing debut for McGregor, who did have some amateur boxing experience heading into the encounter.
The UFC President is now saying a potential rematch between the two should only happen in the UFC.
“Obviously, he only way making that fight again makes any sense is if he comes over to the Octagon,” White said on UFC Tonight. “We went over and boxed him, the UFC and Conor McGregor. And now it’s time for him to reciprocate and come fight in the Octagon.”
Mayweather has teased appearing in the UFC in the past, with White even saying that the promotion was negotiating with the boxing star.
White even brings up the past promises made by Mayweather about appearing in the UFC.
“Floyd said leading up to the fight with Conor that he would do both,” White said. “So we’ll see what happens.”
McGregor himself recently stated that an MMA fight is next for the lightweight champion, while Mayweather recently posted a video on social media of himself stepping into an MMA cage.
