Dana White Says Khamzat Chimaev’s Third UFC Bout Is Delayed By Travel Issues
Khamzat Chimaev is looking forward to his third fight in the UFC, but there seems to be some issues with getting the fighter into the United States.
UFC President Dana White says that travel issues, mainly due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, are what is keeping Chimaev out of the Octagon.
“We’re working on it,” White said during an Instagram Live session with Yahoo! Sports (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “You know I want (him to fight). I want him here. I want him to come to America and fight. We’ll see what happens… He wants to fight and people will fight him, but we’ve got to work on getting him in the (country). It ain’t easy getting people into the country right now.”
Chimaev’s previous two victories in the UFC came over John Phillips and Rhys McKee. Both of those wins coming in a 10-day span, a UFC record. It is possible that Chimaev could compete on Fight Island as the UFC is reportedly going back to the famed location sometime in September.
