Dana White Says Holly Holm Best Ever With UFC 219 Win
Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm challenges Cyborg for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title in the main event of UFC 219.
UFC President Dana White is ready to call Holly Holm the best female fighter of all time if she can upset the champion.
“If Holly Holm can pull off this win, I think she’s a 4-to-1 underdog just like she was against Ronda Rousey, she wins this fight, greatest female fighter of all time,” White said on Undisputed. “She’s been fighting her whole life. She’s a 13 time boxing world champion, a multiple time kickboxing champion, she beat the unbeatable Ronda Rousey in spectacular fashion and if she goes out and beats Cyborg — everybody thinks that Cyborg is unbeatable — she beats the unbeatable, how can you deny she’s the greatest female fighter of all time.”
Holm already pulled one of the biggest upsets in MMA history when she knocked out Ronda Rousey to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title at UFC 193.
White believes that Holm does have a chance at victory, but she must be very technical in the Octagon against Cyborg.
“I’d give her a technical chance of winning the fight. She’s very technical and she’s very well rounded,” White said. “She’s got good takedown defense, striking she’s very well rounded, punching, kicking. The one thing that is bad for her is if Cyborg gets her to the ground, I just don’t think her ground game is that good.”
UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Cyborg and Holly Holm headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
