Dana White Says He’s Interested In Signing Jordan Burroughs
Jordan Burroughs recently defeated UFC veteran Ben Askren at the Beat The Streets amateur wrestling event in New York.
UFC President Dana White says he is very interested in signing Burroughs if he decides to cross over into professional MMA.
“Yeah, listen, I’m always interested in, you know, these guys that are considered the best athletes in the world in whatever it is they do wanting to come to the UFC,” White said on The Jim Rome Show (via MMA Junkie). “Yeah, obviously I’d be very interested.”
Burroughs has won 18 championships as an amateur wrestler, including an Olympic gold medal in 2012.
Speaking of the defeated Askren, one thing White admits is that it has been fun having Askren in the UFC.
“Askren is a very interesting guy,” White said. “He and I have a long history of smack talk between us, and then he retired and was interested in coming into the UFC, and I think timing is everything, and the timing was right for him to come, and he’s been fun since he’s been here.“
There has been no word from Burroughs if he plans on making a pro MMA debut in the near future, but the amateur wrestling great had previously said he’d like to try MMA at least once.
