Dana White Says Darren Till May Have Been Pushed Too Soon
UFC President Dana White is starting to believe that the welterweight contender may have been pushed too hard and too soon.
“I think Till went back to the drawing board,” White said to ESPN. “He’s a young guy. After the win over (Donald Cerrone), we may have pushed him too soon. It happens sometimes when a guy gets that much steam behind him. Pump the breaks a little here. Let him get back and work on the things he needs to work on. He’s going to be around.”
Till is in the midst of a two fight losing streak, also dropping a bout to former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 228.
White is in no rush to see Till get back in the Octagon, as he still wants to see what is next for the fighter.
“We’ll give him some time, look for a next opponent, and see what’s next for him,” White said.
The struggling Till had one five of six before the losing streak began, with notable wins coming over Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson.
