UFC President Dana White has been involved in the negotiations for a potential boxing match between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. for awhile now.
Rumors have spread that McGregor could retire altogether after the potential super fight, something that the UFC President isn’t concerned about.
"I saw a quote the other day from a guy from Showtime who said that I'm stalling the thing [Mayweather vs. McGregor] because I'm worried that McGregor will retire after this fight, which is completely false and not even close to being true," White affirmed to TMZ.
When McGregor does compete again, whether in boxing or the UFC, it will mark the first time he has competed since defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
White also acknowledges that the negotiations for a super fight of this magnitude will continue to take more time.
"To get a deal like this done, this doesn't happen in a couple months. It's gonna be a tough deal to get done, if it gets done at all,” says White.
The UFC President can be seen next at UFC 211, which takes place on Saturday, May 13 from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas with Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos headlining.
