Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather recently did an interview where he said that a fight in the UFC won't be happening.
Despite the statement from Mayweather, one thing that UFC President Dana White doesn’t want people to do is to count anything out when it comes to the boxer in the UFC.
“He had come out earlier and said – that’s why people were asking me about it, and I said don’t count anything out on him coming over to the UFC, that anything is possible. And I still don’t,” White said on Undisputed. “Listen, you guys know I was here, I did not believe that McGregor-Mayweather would happen and it did. So anything is possible.”
While Mayweather has never competed in an MMA fight, one thing he has done is defeat UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match this past August.
White even stated on Undisputed that he would be meeting with Mayweather’s team to possibly negotiate a deal.
“I actually have a meeting with those guys today,” says White.
If Mayweather would come over and fight in the UFC, it would easily be the biggest crossover from boxing to MMA in combat sports history.
