Dana White Knows A Lot Of Fighters Weren’t Happy With UFC 232 Location Change
UFC President Dana White acknowledges that the move wasn’t an easy one and that not everybody was going to be happy about it.
“Listen, it’s not an easy decision to make,” White said at the UFC 232 pre-fight press conference. “You have to pull the trigger and you’ve got to make moves. You can’t make everyone happy. Not every fan, every fighter, but we gave the fans in Las Vegas the opportunity to get tickets first, and the tickets are cheaper. We had over 3,000 people buy tickets here that had tickets in Vegas. We did everything we could to make it better. We did what we could do.”
The location change was met with a lot of criticism, from both the fighters and the fans.
White also doesn’t seem to care very much about how the location change will affect the fighters financially.
“It is what it is. It’s either that or not fight and nobody gets paid anything. It is what it is. We had to move it. It’s costing everybody more money. It is what it is. Who is going to pay my income tax in California?,” says White.
UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
