Cynthia Calvillo Topples #1 Jessica Eye At UFC Vegas 2 At The Apex

Saturday’s UFC show from Las Vegas might have very well been the thinnest on paper in the history of the company

A ten fight show that only featured three ranked fighters, it started off with a bang. For the first time in UFC history, the three opening fights all ended in under a minute.

However, the main event seemed jaded out of the gate. #1 Flyweight Jessica Eye didn’t make Flyweight, as she almost fell down on the scale on her way to missing weight. She was tasked with welcoming #10 Strawwweight Cynthia Calvillo to the division. Calvillo certainly felt welcomed.

After a nice start by Eye in round one, Calvillo pulled away with more active, accurate striking, as well as superior cardiovascular skills that helped her run away with the fight. Calvillo would earn the unanimous decision win, leaving her with one loss in her eight UFC fights, and a 6-1-1 record in the company overall.

Elsewhere on the show, #13 Flyweight Jordan Espinosa competed and won at bantamweight by defeating Mark De La Rosa via unanimous decision. Other notable fights include the surging Marvin Vettori tapping out Karl Roberson via rear naked choke in the first round, and Merab Dvalishvili repeatedly taking down Gustavo Lopez en route to a unanimous decision win.
