Cynthia Calvillo & Paul Felder Both Critical Of Jessica Eye After Weigh-In Miss

Cynthia Calvillo and Jessica Eye competed in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo, with Calvillo scoring a unanimous decision win on that night.

Eye missed weight by 0.25 pounds for the flyweight main event, but Calvillo says that Eye missed weight by more than 0.25 pounds.

“To be honest, she didn’t miss weight by .25. She actually missed weight by a lot more,” Calvillo said at the post-fight press conference (via Danny Segura of MMA Junkie). “She held on to the towel when she got on the scale, and I know this because we received a text message from her coach letting us know she was going to miss weight by three-and-a-half pounds – not .2. When she showed up, she held on to the towel and got away with that. That’s why she was so proud after she weighed in, and she was so happy, and she was like, ‘Oh, I only missed weight by .25 pounds.’ No, she went into this fight a lot heavier than I did. So not only did I move up a weight class, I fought somebody that was a bantamweight going in there, not fighting someone at flyweight.”

This was the second straight time that Eye missed weight for a fight, as she came in overweight at UFC 245

Paul Felder, who provided commentary for the event, doesn’t buy Eye’s reasoning for missing weight.

“To say that you’re proud of yourself for missing, and I like Jessica and I think she’s a great fighter, and I’ll probably hear about this later, you can’t be proud for missing weight,” Felder said on the pre-fight show (via Danny Segura of MMA Junkie). “That’s BS.”

The fighter not only missed weight for the event, but will also most likely lose her #1 spot on the rankings after being defeated by Calvillo.
