Cynthia Calvillo Expected “Hood Fight” At UFC 210
Cynthia Calvillo earned her second win in under two months under the UFC banner, submitting Pearl Gonzalez at UFC 210.
After all the controversy surrounding Gonzalez’s breast implants, the victorious Calvillo was expecting a hood fight in the Octagon.
“I’m always expecting the finish,” Calvillo said after the event. “I’m not the type to leave it to the judges, by any means. I have four finishes and only one decision. I knew I was going to get the finish. I knew she was going to be a tough, bigger opponent. She’s from Chicago. I knew she was going to be ‘hood; I’m from the ‘hood. I was ready for a three-round war, but I knew I was going to get that finish.”
The fighter is quickly finding herself to be a star to watch in the women’s strawweight division, which is currently ruled by Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Calvillo is happy with how she got her second UFC win because the fighter always knew she was getting the finish.
“I just went out there and fought,” Calvillo said. “I knew I was going to get the finish. I just didn’t know how. It’s just another day for me. I train all the time. It’s a lifestyle for me. I fight every day. It just feels like home.”
In her first UFC appearance at UFC 209, the undefeated Calvillo submitted Amanda Bobby Cooper in the first round.
