Cyborg Santos: Michael Page Is Showing To Be A Douchebag
Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos had quite the scare this weekend at Bellator 158, but now he’s speaking out about his opponent, Michael Page.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, “Cyborg” criticized Michael “Venom” Page for his antics after a flying knee that sent Santos to the hospital. After the fight, Page threw on a Pokemon hat and rolled a Pokeball at his prone opponent.
“Page proved he’s a great athlete, a skillful striker. He doesn’t have a good ground game, and that’s what I was planning on working on in the fight,” Santos said, “but he’s showing to be a douchebag because he doesn’t respect his opponents before or after the fight. He’s using bad people as influences.”
It’s worth noting that while Page never explicitly apologized or expressed remorse for his actions following the bout, he did make sure to tweet about the incident and wish Santos well. “MVP” also posted a link to Santos’ GoFundMe page. Santos thinks that Page could be a big star, but is going about it the wrong way.
“He could become a celebrity with his talent and look up to other athletes, instead of acting like this. This generation looks up to (Conor) McGregor as an influence, and it’s not what being a competitor is about. Throwing things after the fight… Honestly, he’s a clown. The way he behaves is not how a champion should behave. He’s talented, yes. He’s skillful. And he fought a great fight,” Santos said.
