Cris Cyborg Calls Daniel Cormier A “Paid” UFC “Shill”, Deletes Tweet
Cris Cyborg is not happy with how Daniel Cormier talks about the UFC.
The former UFC women’s featherweight champion and current Bellator women’s featherweight champion left the UFC in 2019. That has not stopped her from taking shots at the promotion or its talent. Cyborg’s latest victim is former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier.
DC recently talked about how the UFC helped change his life by awarding him a million dollars after his second bout against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“When people talk about ‘You’re a white knight for the UFC’ why wouldn’t I be? They changed my life,” Cormier said on the DC & Helwani Show (via Anton Tabuena of Bloody Elbow). “After I had lost to Jon Jones, Lorenzo Fertitta gave me a million dollars. Him and Dana gave me a million dollars. They actually called me and said, ‘We are going to give you a million dollars for for the job that you’ve done. So when people say, ‘Wow you made $80 to fight Jon Jones and that was a big pay-per-view…’ No, they gave me a million dollars. I didn’t get PPV (points), I was just a challenger fighting a guy who has defended his belt all those times.”
Cyborg heard about how the UFC changed DC’s life and decided to say he was “paid to shill” by the promotion in a now-deleted tweet:

“When UFC moved UFC 232 from NV to CA on four days notice, they refused to compensate me for paid appearances I could no longer attend in Vegas. At UFC 240 they refused to buy my flights to the fights because I did camp in. I was the PPV co-main event @dc_mma you’re paid to shill.”
The former UFC employee also wrote the following in another now-deleted tweet:
“UFC 240, they compensated me 5K to fight in the company uniform.”
There has been no response yet from DC after being called a “shill” by the former UFC women’s featherweight champion.
