Cortney Casey Says TDLR Has Destroyed Her Career & Reputation

Cortney Casey initially thought she earned a decision victory over Jessica Aguilar at UFC 211, but then the Texas Department Of Licensing & Regulation overturned her win to a no contest after potentially failing a drug test.

The UFC recently exonerated the fighter and even the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) says that she is innocent of any wrong doing in the fight or with the drug test.

Despite the fact that the UFC and USADA both exonerated her, the strawweight fighter says her career and reputation have been destroyed by the TDLR.

“I’ve been exonerated by the UFC, which is great,” Casey said on The MMA Hour. “I’ve been exonerated by USADA, which is awesome. But at the end of the day, the people that need to be making an apology haven’t, the ones that made the statement. This was my breakthrough performance in the eyes of most people. She was a highly ranked fighter and this is a huge positive in my career and it’s just been tarnished by someone's stupidity on the situation. And just a lack of professionalism at the end of the day with how things were handled.”

Nobody who works for the TDLR have issued an apology to Casey or even a statement explaining what went wrong on their end.

Casey always knew she was clean, no matter what the drug test apparently showed.

“I knew what the test was gonna show," she said. “I knew it was gonna come back clean. I’ve always been a clean fighter.”

As of this writing, the no contest still stands on Casey’s record, there is no word on if or when it would be overturned back to a win for the fighter.
