Conor McGregor's time as a boxer may be over, but he's not done trying to pick fights with other boxers in the future.
Kong Events & Goldstar Promotions held "An Evening with The Notorious Conor McGregor" at the SEC in Glasgow, Scotland, where McGregor spoke extensively on his boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather. The one-time boxer said he would love to have an MMA fight with a boxer and revealed that Floyd Mayweather said a rematch would happen in the form of an MMA fight.
"Originally, he was talking about an MMA bout next. That's what he said before the fight. In my mind, I want to bring one of these motherf*cking boxing guys here. I stepped into their world. I put on a show for my fans and they're talking about confidence, let one of them step into my world… Maybe Malignaggi into a MMA bout or Floyd. We could do a rematch in boxing or like he actually said originally, will do an MMA fight next. There are options for me on the table," McGregor said.
In regards to Paulie Malignaggi, McGregor said the former boxing world champion knew what he signed up for when he sparred with McGregor a couple of months ago and that he has been running his mouth on the sparring sessions.
"He's a f*cking rabbit, I swear to God," McGregor said. "I have no problem with that man. He came in, he's done what he was asked to do. He knew what it was, he knew it was a fight. You knew it wasn't a spar, you're coming in, we were gonna fight and that's it. He went and started to do interviews and expected good treatment and respect. What do you expect if you go running your mouth?"
The current UFC lightweight champion believes he showed the boxing world he can hang with the best in boxing. McGregor reiterated his desire to have an MMA fight with a boxer, especially those that were skeptical of his transition from the octagon to the boxing ring.
"The way they were carrying on before the fight, I just couldn't believe it. I'm a two-weight world champion and they're giving it this like I'm a f*cking rookie, like I'm a day one novice. I'd strangle every single one of them with ease. I was halfway at his back halfway through the first round and Robert Byrd sumo wrestled me off him. I'd like one of them to come over on [the MMA side]. Last time it happened, James Toney came up and got strangled by Randy Couture in less than a minute," McGregor said.
McGregor was stopped by Mayweather in the 10th round on August 26 on pay-per-view. The fight was McGregor's boxing debut and Mayweather captured his 50th win, surpassing the legendary 49-0 career record of former world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano.
