Conor McGregor Had Tooth Embedded In Knuckle Training For UFC 229

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is back after a near two year hiatus to challenge UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the gold at UFC 229.

McGregor is coming into the big fight with a minor hand injury, which was suffered during training camp.

“Only the strong survive around this game. I was fighting a 90 kilo fighter, Ion Pascu, he’s a great solid fighter. They call him the bomber. Like me, I sometimes spar without a gum shield. I was sparring this guy, The Bomber, and I smacked him with a clean shot, and his tooth embedded into me,” McGregor said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

The injury isn’t expected to cause any major issues for McGregor, who has never pulled out of a fight during his UFC tenure.

These kind of injuries happen according to McGregor, especially when taking part in the real fight game.

“A man’s tooth was embedded into my knuckle. Welcome to the fight game. The real fight game. Not that tip-tap sh-t you see so much of. You’ve got to get in and do it. You’re either going to do it or you’re not going to do it. Make a decision. It is what it is,” says McGregor.

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
