Conor McGregor Mocks Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Strategy For UFC 254
Conor McGregor is not impressed with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s strategy heading into the latter’s UFC 254 title defense against Justin Gaethje.
UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov and UFC interim lightweight champion Gaethje will meet in a title unification bout this October. Nurmagomedov recently stated he plans on taking Gaethje into the deepest ocean and drowning him when they collide in the Octagon. One person who is not too fond of Nurmagomedov’s strategy is former two-division UFC champion McGregor, who said the following about Nurmagomedov’s plans for UFC 254 (via ESPN MMA):
“In other words – ‘I’m going to be running around the outside of the cage, s—ing my pants. And within the first ten seconds of the fight, I’m diving at his legs for a good whif of his jockstrap..’”
This is not the first and, certainly, not the last time that McGregor will insult his longtime rival, as the two have been having a war of words for years now. The rivalry was thought to have been settled nearly two years ago at UFC 229 when Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor by fourth-round submission. Outside the Octagon, however, issues persist. Nurmagomedov has yet to respond to the latest jab thrown his way by McGregor.
UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 from a to-be-announced location. Nurmagomedov and Gaethje will headline the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on pay-per-view.
