Conor McGregor Looking To See What “Fools” Do At UFC 216

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor just made his professional boxing debut in The Money Fight, suffering a tenth round TKO loss to the now retired Floyd Mayweather.

When it comes to his appearances in the Octagon, the UFC Lightweight Champion hasn’t competed in the promotion since defeating Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title at UFC 205.

Next weekend at UFC 216, a pair of top contenders in Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee are fighting to become the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion.

In most cases, the person who become the interim champion usually fights the division's champion in a title unification fight.

McGregor is interested in seeing what happens at UFC 216 or as he stated, what the fools do in their title fight.

“Let me see what these two fools do this weekend,”  McGregor said at a fan Q&A.

Outside of a potential title unification bout, the other big fight rumor is that McGregor would face longtime rival Nate Diaz a third time in his return fight.

Rumors started persisting that the trilogy fight could happen at UFC 219, but UFC President Dana White quickly shot that down.

UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
