Conor McGregor Could Fight Sooner Than Expected, Confirms WWE Contacted Him
Conor McGregor was originally set to take upwards of a year off from fighting as he awaits the birth of his first child. That break may be abbreviated.
McGregor spoke to RTE about his down time, and per usual for the UFC Lightweight Champion, he kept fans — and the UFC — on their toes. McGregor said his child is being born later than he thought, and he wants a break until after Christmas, then wants the new UFC owners to fly and see him.
“As far as I break, I don’t know,” he said. “I know Dana [White] has been on record, he’s saying ‘10 months, he’s taking 10 months’, I don’t know. Originally I thought the baby was being born in March and then it was May so maybe I could get in another [fight]. I just don’t know. I’m weighing up my options."
McGregor also addressed Floyd Mayweather, who started rumors of a fight between the two in 2016. McGregor also confirmed WWE have been contacting him.
“I've got the wrestling guys contacting me as well. I’ve got the boxing license. His last pay-per-view was 350,000 buys. The fight was a flop, it was a dud. His last two fights have been duds. Of course the Floyd fight is the fight the public want to see, but we’ll see. These things take time," McGregor said.
