McGregor shows respect to Rousey, Lynch and Flair.
The final image of WrestleMania 35 before the show went off the air featured “The Man” Becky Lynch holding up both the RAW and SmackDown Live Women’s Championships. Becky Lynch received tons of praise on social media following her win and some of that praise came from fellow Ireland native, former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. Conor praised the abilities of Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch and mentioned Stephanie McMahon’s name in the tweet because she recently said WWE is open to signing him and Rob Gronkowski. McGregor concluded his tweet by teasing the idea of him getting into a wrestling ring.
Congrats to Irelands Becky Lynch, the WWE’s first Champ Champ.
Wow!
What a match these ladies put on! Ronda Rousey is something special in that ring, as is Charlotte Flair of the Flair dynasty!
Stephanie McMahon you are right, I could not do what these athletes do.
Or could I…— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 8, 2019
A Twitter user then attempted to throw a bit of wrestling history Conor’s way by posting a picture of Chris Jericho hold the Undisputed WWF Championship belts. Conor responded by explaining that one of the belts Chris Jericho had was a WCW belt and both of the belts that Becky Lynch have are both WWE-sanctioned championships which makex her the first “champ champ” of WWE.
One of these is a WCW belt.
Both belts must be won under the same organization and both titles must be fully unified also.
Interim titles do not make the cut.
The belts must also be held consecutively.
This is for true “Champ Champ” status.
Yours sincerely,
The Champ Champ https://t.co/b7dW8T1Gty— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 8, 2019
Chris Jericho made sure to correct him.
Thanks for the explanation of the rules Champ Champ. But Both belts were won under the same organization, on the same night. Now quit being a mark and move along, junior. https://t.co/2HYkmdAI5i
