Conor McGregor And Alexander Volkanovski Go Back And Forth On Twitter Following UFC 280 | Social Media Roundup

Following the conclusion of the UFC 280 main event between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev, Conor McGregor and Alexander Volkanovski had some words for each other which they voiced on social media — hear about this and much more on Monday’s social media roundup.

Conor McGregor and Alexander Volkanovski go back and forth on Twitter following UFC 280

Something which has become a pretty much guaranteed thing after a big lightweight or welterweight bout in the UFC over the last two years is Conor McGregor commenting on fighters even though he himself is not active.

On Saturday following the conclusion of UFC 280 main event where we saw Islam Makhachev dominate Charles Oliveira and become the new UFC lightweight champion, Makhachev invited the UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski into the cage to build towards a fight which apparently could take place in early 2023.

As many people would’ve expected, following these events Conor McGregor took to Twitter to fire shots at both Makhachev and Volkanovski.

The Twitter interaction started out fairly unsavoury but then transitioned into a pretty respectful back and forth between McGregor and Volkanovski.

See below to see the full Twitter interaction.

McGregor was clearly trying to downplay how big of a fight Makhachev vs Volkanovski was going to be and you can understand why the Australian would be unhappy with McGregor’s comments.

McGregor received a lot of criticism following his comments but as we all know this is just McGregor’s way of trying to keep himself in the loop with MMA’s top fighters even though he isn’t active.
