Colby Covington: ‘After My Career With UFC Is Done, WWE Is Something I’d Love to Dabble In’

Colby Covington wants to cross over into the world of pro wrestling and join WWE.

Many pro wrestlers have crossed over into the world of MMA and vice versa. Ken Shamrock was the first wrestler of note to do this, but in more recent years, Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar have shown a definitive path into the world of professional wrestling through MMA.

Now, former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion, Colby Covington, has stated that he is looking at WWE as a potential landing spot after his UFC career is done.

“I’d love to cross over and come into the WWE,” says Covington, 34, to Sports Illustrated. “But I love being a UFC fighter. I love fighting; it’s my passion and what I was born and put on this earth to do. After my career with the UFC is done, WWE is something I’d love to dabble in.”

Colby also spoke positively of Ronda Rousey and her transition into WWE, saying that he believes she will be considered one of the best for years to come.

“Ronda Rousey has really impressed me [in WWE],” Covington says. “Her promo game has come on strong. She’s just a true entertainer. She knows how to put on a show for a crowd. She is the baddest woman in combat sports. Look at her track record—she’s a trendsetter. The things she did in the UFC are unheard of. I’m a big fan of Ronda Rousey and I love the way she competes. I think she’s going to be the best WWE wrestler for a long time to come.”

Just like Ronda Rousey is “The Baddest Woman on the Planet,” Colby Covington considers himself “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” and says that WWE may just be where he goes to prove it.

Ronda Rousey will headline night one of WrestleMania 38 against Charlotte Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Recently, Charlotte Flair called herself “the Ronda Rousey of WWE” and Ronda Rousey the “Charlotte Flair of MMA.” Read more here.
