Coach Says Darren Till Suffered Torn MCL At UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till
Till had previously stated that he suffered a knee injury during the bout, but Till’s coach in Colin Heron says the fighter actually suffered a torn MCL against Whittaker.
“Torn MCL, doctors are amazed he was able to stand up for the last three rounds,” Heron told ESPN via text message. “He is in a cast for six weeks then we’ll reassess, hopefully it will start to knit while immobilized.”
Surgery could be required to repair the torn MCL, but the first option, like Till’s coach stated, it to see if the injury heals on its own over the next six weeks.
UFC President Dana White recently stated that Jared Cannonier may be next for a victorious Whittaker, but no plans have been revealed for Till at this time and those plans may not be revealed until more information is known about the torn MCL.
