CM Punk Returns To CFFC MMA Commentary Booth, Says He’s Got Time On His Hands For Two Months

CM Punk has returned to Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

CM Punk has returned to Cage Fury Fighting Championships and said he has time on his hands…for now.

CM Punk was on the commentary team for CFFC 125. His broadcast partner, John Morgan, noted that he ran into Punk backstage, and he was back with cause.

The show marked Punk’s first televised appearance since AEW All In on August 27. AEW terminated Punk’s contract on September 2 following an investigation into a backstage incident that involved him and Jack Perry at the pay-per-view.

Update: Punk commented on his return during the broadcast. He noted that he has time on his hands for the next two months.

During the AEW All Out post-show scrum, Tony Khan noted that he couldn’t comment on the terms of Punk’s release in relation to a non-compete clause. As a result, it’s unclear whether Punk is currently able to work in the wrestling world.

Punk signed with CFFC in November 2018 and debuted on commentary at CFFC 71. He initially worked events on a regular basis, but the frequency dipped when he signed with AEW in August 2021. Punk previously returned to CFFC for CFFC 114 on November 10, 2022. The show aired on UFC Fight Pass.

Outside of wrestling, Punk had an unsuccessful run in the UFC; he competed at UFC 203 and 225.

Bryan Danielson commented on Punk’s departure from AEW. Check out his comments here.
