Close Friend Says A Cop Once Put A Gun In The Mouth Of Kevin Randleman
The world has been in quite the upheaval since the passing of George Floyd, which has led to mass protests all over the globe.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Kevin Randleman passed away in February of 2016, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. However, while the MMA world admired a man like Randleman, there was a time when the outside world attempted to diminish him.
Eric Smith, a close friend of the late Randleman, recently shared a story with MMA TRUFAN about how a cop once shoved a gun into Randleman’s mouth.
“There was a cop that once put a gun in his mouth. That was back in Sandusky,” Smith said (via Shakiel Mahjouri of Bloody Elbow). “There was a time when we left a bar down on High Street. There used to be a whole bunch of bars right on High Street. Kevin got maced for no reason. I think they were just spraying mace and he whipped around and I guess when he whipped around he accidentally hit a cop and they threw him in the paddy wagon for that. That was a little racially charged just because it was a different time back then.”
Smith also said that the incident took place during the time period of the Rodney King riots and the OJ Simpson murder trial.
Randleman will be a part of the UFC Hall Of Fame class of 2020 in the pioneer wing, with that ceremony expected to take place later this year.
