UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are a little over a month away from their super fight in Las Vegas.
Chuck Liddell is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and he believes that Mayweather needs to make a statement by knocking McGregor out.
“I don’t think it’s gonna be that exciting of a fight. I don’t think Floyd will come after him. Floyd will fight his fight the way he does and normally that makes for a boring fight. I’d love to see him go after [Conor]. If he wants to make a statement, he’s got to knock him out early,” Liddell said to TMZ.
McGregor is a huge underdog against Mayweather, as the boxing legend is competing for the fiftieth time as a pro.
Liddell also feels McGregor has a shot if Mayweather chases after him, but he still doesn’t expect that to happen.
“If Floyd comes after him, [Conor] has a shot to do it but I don’t think Floyd will come after him. Floyd will be happy just making the money and running around,” says Liddell.
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
